HOW TO SLEEP IN THE SNOWHOTEL
Don`t have too much to drink at dinner, so you don`t have to get out of the warm sleeping bag to go to the toilet during the night. A small nightcap in the Icebar is enough, and also helps you acclimatize.
If you want a shower, do it before dinner, not right before you go to sleep – then you will keep warmer.
Save sauna for next morning.
Our sleeping bags are good for -25° and covers almost all of your body, so the most important thing is to protect the head.
Lesson number 2, DO NOT wear too much clothes.
It will make you sweat, and then ultimately cold.
Thermal underwear, woollen, only one layer, not too thick.
Do not wear shoes to bed.
When you undress, bring clothes you may need in the morning or during the night with you in the sleeping bag, like pants or a sweater.
Leave the shoes by the bed – you will need them in the morning or if you need to go to the toilet at night.
Outerwear you may leave inside the service building, and valuables in the lockers.
Get into your sleeping bed, pull the zipper up to make it airtight.
Move a little bit around to get it warm.
Now you are ready to sleep like a baby.

HOW TO DRESS IN THE ARCTIC
Even though we dress our excursion guests in warm and protective clothing, you should always pack warm winter clothes.
Always wear several layers of warm clothing for the cold winter days.
Long underwear and socks in woolen or technical fabric
Thick jumper in wool or fleece, scarf, woolen socks and lined trousers, in windproof material
1. Woolen hat
2. winter jacket (e.g. down)
3. Gloves or mittens
4. Winter shoes.
Remember that over 50% of heat is lost from the top of your head! So even if your toes are freezing, it helps putting on a hat.
We also recommend checking out this film on how to dress in arctic Norway:
Tours you can do by yourself:
1. To Klubbnes headland. Past the Restaurant building and follow the track by the fjord.
In winter walk on snowshoes or on foot.
In summer you can also lend fishing gear and fish for sea trout at the headland (Klubbnes). There is a camp place to make a fire.
Level: Easy Distance 700 m
2. Mountain hike. On the path on your left, on the road, about 100 metres before your arrive at our reception. In winter perfect for snowshoe hike, in summer on foot. Great view and great hiking terrain.
Level: Medium. Good hiking shoes required. Distance 3 km
3. Sandnes river. Go to the mouth of Sandnes river. A beautiful place, where it is possible to camp and BBQ in summer. This is popular bathing spot, and the water can be quite agreeable on warm days in July and August.
There are also paths to walk along the river into the wild, In winter there are cross country tracks here, so if you want a longer trip by ski, this is a perfect choice.
Level: Easy. Distance 500 m
Bicycle tour up Sandnesdalen
In summer you can cycle up to the dam of Sandnes river, and take a picnic break by the bank of the river. A great place to explore the beautiful surrounding nature.
Level: Medium. Some uphill parts. Distance 5, 4 km
